The Stable offers one on one personal training in Edgewater, Maryland, about ten minutes from Annapolis. Sessions are coached by Alex Witkus, a CrossFit Level 2 and HYROX certified trainer, and Annie Witkus, a CrossFit Level 1 and HYROX certified trainer. Every client gets an assessment, a strength training program written around their goal, and technique taught before any weight is added. A single session is $100 with a coach or $120 with the founder, and packages bring that down. Membership discounts do not apply to personal training.

Four kinds of people

Personal training isn't only for athletes, and it isn't only for beginners. It's for anyone whose situation doesn't fit neatly into a class of twelve.

  • Starting from scratchYou have never trained, or not in a long time, and want to learn the movements before joining a group.
  • Coming back from injuryYou need someone watching every rep and adjusting around what still hurts.
  • Chasing something specificA race, a lift, a sport, a surgery date. A general class won't get you there as directly.
  • Schedule that won't cooperateThe class times don't work for you, so we build the sessions around your week instead.

Every session, not just the first

  • An assessmentWhere you are starting from. Movement quality, training history, current or prior injuries, and what the plan needs to account for.
  • A program for youWe write it around your goal and your week, and revise it as you progress.
  • Technique firstWe teach the movement before the weight goes on. Safe progression is the whole point of how we coach.
  • AccountabilityYour coach knows your numbers and follows up when sessions start getting missed.

Credentials worth checking

Both of our coaches compete at a level most local gyms can't offer, and both hold certifications you can verify. Our strength programming is built on a division one collegiate model, and the conditioning draws on CrossFit, HYROX, gymnastics and bodybuilding.

Before you book

Answered by Alex Witkus, founder and head coach.

How often should I train one on one?
Most people start at once or twice a week and fill the rest of the week with group classes or open gym. Your coach will tell you what your goal actually requires.
Can I do personal training and group classes?
Yes, and most of our clients do. One on one develops the technique and the classes build the routine. They work better together than either does alone.
What if I have an injury?
Tell your coach in the first session. We build the program around what you can do. If something needs medical attention before you train, your coach will say so.
Can two of us train together?
Yes. Partner sessions are available and the couples rate applies.
What does it cost?
A single session is $100 with a staff coach or $120 with the founder. Packages are cheaper per session: five for $450 or $575, ten for $850 or $1,100. Membership discounts do not apply to personal training, so these are the prices either way. If you are new, the Foundations Program is $199 for three one on one sessions plus four weeks of unlimited classes.
